About
Hi! My name is Allie Miller and I am a mixed media artist living outside Montpelier, Vermont. I received a Bachelor of Arts with a double major of Anthropology and Studio Art at Wheaton College, MA in 2018. These days, I am an expressive arts counselor at a residential treatment center, and I like to spend my days off skiing and breathing in the mountains around me.
Although, I spent most of my time making an oily, painty mess in my studio; I have a background in drawing, a love for metalwork, a fear of knitting too much, a side hustle of wood burning. I have also formally casted my watercolor set as my only necessary travel companion.
While people often say that we write what we know, I believe we draw what we want to know. My fascination is nature, it is light and movement, fog and clarity, and the human conditions of emotion. I dwell in the category of a landscape artist, as I prefer to speak in the symbols and details of the unapologetic imperfections of nature.
This work will never be work for me, I will always be a student, I will always be an artist with a day job. While I have no quarrels producing work that may be sold, I prefer to sell what I make instead of making things to sell. For me, the real fun is simply sharing what I create with those who find connection with it.
